Nestled just a short stroll from Verona’s iconic Roman Theatre, Zeno Ice Cream And Chocolate is a hidden gem that elevates the art of gelato to new heights. This charming ice cream shop, located at Via Sant'Alessio 6, is a must-visit for anyone seeking an authentic, high-quality Italian gelato experience far from the usual tourist hustle.
What truly sets Zeno Ice Cream And Chocolate apart is its exceptional dedication to using fresh, high-quality ingredients that result in vibrant, unforgettable flavors. Customers repeatedly praise the extraordinary fruit-inspired gelatos—such as the luscious fragola (strawberry)—which has been described as a “bite of all fresh fruit.” This flavor, alongside others like the delicately fragrant bergamot and the intriguing La Qizha, showcase the shop’s mastery in balancing both classic and innovative taste profiles.
The texture here is remarkably smooth and silky, a hallmark of expertly crafted gelato, paired with a refreshing lightness that keeps you coming back for more. Not to mention, the price point is impressively reasonable: €2 per scoop regardless of flavor, a rare find when compared to the often inflated prices in more touristy areas of Verona.
Beyond flavor, Zeno takes pride in catering thoughtfully to dietary needs—gluten-free and vegan options are clearly labeled and handled with utmost care, ensuring a safe and delightful experience for all customers. One visitor appreciated the rigorous hygiene practices, noting how spoons are thoroughly washed before each scoop, a small detail that speaks volumes about the shop’s commitment to quality and customer care.
The atmosphere at Zeno Ice Cream And Chocolate is welcoming yet understated, inviting guests to savor their gelato slowly or take it to go while wandering Verona’s charming streets. Its slightly off-the-beaten-path location adds to its allure, making discovery feel exclusive, almost like a secret reward for those who seek the best local experiences.
Patrons often recount the warmth and honesty of the owner, who not only serves exceptional gelato but also guides guests toward flavors they might love—a personal touch that enhances the entire visit. Many have made multiple trips during their stays just to indulge again, a testament to the addictive quality of Zeno’s offerings.
If you find yourself in Verona, whether on a romantic getaway or a cultural exploration, make sure to carve out time for Zeno Ice Cream And Chocolate. It’s more than just dessert; it’s an intimate taste of Verona’s culinary craftsmanship that lingers long after the last scoop.

I took the photo with my face so I could not use it, and finished the gelato way too fast. Me and my bf called this the BEST gelato I have got in our life. The owner was honest and referred us to a fruity flavour ( fragola ), it was SO AMAZING, tastes like a bite of all fresh fruit. It was for 2 euro instead of 4 euro like some touristy places, which I think supposed to be for the price of gelato. Please stay the same because I will keep thinking about your shop and come back next time im in Verona

So good I've been here 3 X over a 5 day trip. Great for gluten free, they wash their spoons vigorously before each scoop. Amazing flavour combinations!

Impressive vegan gelatteria! Off the beaten path but worth the walk across the Ponte Pietra, on a nice walk to this gem. Ate a pallina of Rosa di Pisticci, which is sourced from that very town in Italy. Light, refreshing, delicious.

Absolutely the best ice cream in town. Little hidden, yes, but much better for it. We wouldn't have found it if it weren't for our local friend. Oh, such a shame we stayed just for one night. Next time, we're stopping by for sure.

Best ice cream by a bloody mile, I visited 3 times in 5 days. Was shown the location by locals and thank them dearly for it. What an incredible rotation of high end flavours. Interesting sorbets match the classic ice creams with a twist. A middle finger to GROM, this place has high standards for allergies, labels lactose intolerance and gluten allergies (my fiancé is coeliac) - I really appreciate this. Well done to the owners, you are a standout business in a location that’s well worth the beautiful walk to get to. Redefining good gelato, get yourself to Zeno TONIGHT!

Learnt of this gem of an ice cream shop thanks to a local’s recommendation. Slightly out of the way, but very near the Roman Theatre. Definitely one of the best gelato we’ve ever tried. We particularly loved the pompelmo rosa, mela lime, and the dark yellow color (can’t remember the name). Taste was absolutely perfect, and so was the texture. Price is €2 per scoop, regardless of how many scoops you order. Would definitely want to try even more flavours considering how high quality the ice creams we ate were.
